The National Three Peaks Challenge

5th Aug 2014

We would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who helped us raise £1,175.00 for Cancer Research UK! Our 1st Line Support Technician, Will Dawe, shared his experience with us:

“On Friday 1st of August a team of ‘mountain explorers’ departed from our Fareham office on the long drive to Ben Nevis, Scotland. For the next twelve hours we were crammed into a transit van, where the only way to sleep was sitting up… or leaning against a colleague!

We arrived at 06:30 on 02/08/2014 and quickly set up our base camp. The clock had started for our 24 hour challenge!

After a few water stops and moments to take in the view, the team made the summit of Ben Nevis where we took an obligatory team ‘selfie’. There wasn’t time to hang about, we still needed to complete two more mountains… Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

After a long drive to Scafell Pike, we realised we were not going to make all three mountains in 24 hours. However, this didn’t stop us at all. We arrived at Scafell Pike as darkness set in and the team went up as planned. The climb was made even more difficult by high winds and torrential rain, which pushed everyone to their limits. However, spirits remained high and we completed the climb during the early hours of Sunday morning. Next stop, Snowdon!

The few who didn’t climb Snowdon due to fatigue or injury remained in LLanberis to admire the local sights. If anyone is making a trip to Snowdon, Jemma (Customer Service Manager) and Rob (Senior Project Manager) would recommend you visited the ‘National Slate Museum’ – apparently there is more to slate than we all realised.

Once the remaining team members had successfully climbed Snowdon, we made our way back to Fareham. Over the course of 48 hours, we had travelled over 1,300 miles and had next to no sleep. But all that was worth the experience, the laughs and the money raised for Cancer Research UK – now over £1,000!”
